Should be something like this:
[cz] => Czech language
[GV] => graphics version (for adventure games)
[TV] => text version (for adventure games)
[lg] => uses light gun
[crk] => cracked
[de] => German language
[analog] => made by ANALOG? Analog control?
[SE] => no idea, maybe Special Edition?
[APX] => published by APX
[dv] => disk version?
[r16] => 16K ROM? Adults only?
-osb => load with OS-B
-bas => load with BASIC
-np => no "SIO patch for fast disk access" on emulators

Well, via the wonderfully kind graces od deathtrappommegranate, I now have 6 working game cartridges (he sent me for FREE!) including Basic.
Now, I have yet another question...I use the APE software, and an sio2pc connection to load .atr files into the 800. Some have the extension -bas which I gather require the basic cart to run those files.
When I put in the basic cart and load said atr file...what do I have to type to run the game ? I was hoping it would just magicially run.

Well I figured Id start with a simple game that should run w/no problems...deathtrappomegranate wrote:Can you say what image you're trying to use, and what you've done so far?
adventure 2600-bas
I tried simply trying "run"
I tried typing the filename by itself (and changed the name first to just adv so as to eliminate any syntax errors)
I tried "run adventure 2600"
"run adventure 2600-bas"
"run or I'll smash you against the wall"
uhhh....thats about it!

The file I got from a Holmes disk of games...deathtrappomegranate wrote:Where did the file come from?jetset wrote:Well I figured Id start with a simple game that should run w/no problems...
adventure 2600-bas
It would also be helpful to know how you went about downloading from the PC to your 800.
And I used a sio2pc adapter running APE ver 2.2.0

In the case of Adventure, I think you need to manually boot the program.
Load the disk with BASIC, type "DOS" at the prompt, look for the file with a BASIC extender, go back to BASIC by pressing "B" and RUN"D:FILENAME.BAS, that should do the trick.

Ok, heres another question for you pros!
Color adjustment....
It seems every game I load has an odd color scheme. Particularly I can tell when loading/playing games that are also available for the 5200. The 800 games seem a little too pink/magenta-ish.
I dont see anything inside the 800 to adjust the color...is there a way? I remember someone saying the "Atari" /l\ key on the lower right has to do with the color?

It's possible that you have an older 800 with the CTIA chip, rather than the GTIA that was used in later models, and in the 5200. The CTIA only allows 8 luminance values, as opposed to the 16 of GTIA.jetset wrote:Ok, heres another question for you pros!

If you boot into BASIC and type POKE 623,64, and the screen doesn't go black, then you have a CTIA.

When I boot with the BASIC cart in and type what you suggested, it says "error". I also tried without the Basic cart, but that didnt do anything either (no error message though)
Without the Basic cart inserted then you are in Notepad which does nothing at all. It just lets you write on the screen, can't even save your work.
Make sure you type:
POKE 623,64
no extra comma or anything and see what it does. If it really is an error than you might have the older version of the 800.
