Many titles were announced for the A8 but failed to materialize. Does anybody have further info on the following titles?
- Dino Eggs
- Critical Mass
- Winter Games
- Summer Games II
- Skyfox
- Q*bert's Qubes...

More to follow

Summer Games II and Winter Games showed up in many dealer catalogs but it appears the games were never released. Do betas exist? We'd need to track down ex-Epyx programmers to know for sure...

There was an urban legend about Summer Games II at the time. I was told that the game was so heavily protected the pirates could never spread the game.

Something strange about Winter Games now... The French magazine POKEY had a picture of the game displayed on the XEGS in an article. Was it a mock-up? I'll try to post it here...

Matias, I believe the game you saw was Winter Olympiad '88, Winter Events or Winter Olympics. Most pirates usually wanted to impress you and "sold" the games with other names. Another example would be Screaming Wings renamed 1942.

Back in 1996, myself and atarifrog (hello BM) had dinner with Bradley Koda from Best Electronics. We talked a little bit about the MIA Commando cartridge (where did the screenshots published in Atarian Magazine come from, etc...). Anyway, Bradley told us that Commando was not completed, that maybe John Hardie would have a proto (again uncomplete), etc...

As all of you know, last year Sunmark released the complete Commando. Up to that release, I really trusted Bradley on this (who is extremely knowledgeable about the whereabouts of Atari Corp.) so I have to say that there is some hope -but not much- that Summer Games II and Winter Games do exist on the A8 platform (probably incomplete anyway).

I have to say that the best bet is probably to create a port (by ripping the 7800 or C64 versions).

Are there any places to look up stuff about porting games? My programming experience is mostly C/C++ but I did a bit with Assembler Editor back in the day. I would think porting a 7800 game would be pretty easy but a C-64 game would be extremely difficult. I sure would love to play Bard's Tale on the 8 bit though  That's about when EA really pissed me and I'm sure everyone else here off by continuing to support C-64 and dumping Atari.

There is a nice cross-development system: CC65 (C to 6502 Assembler; Atari 8-Bit libraries included). You may give it a try...

I think a conversion of the Bard's Tale is being worked on by Wrathchild at atariage.com

Have a look here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopi ... highlight=

What happened with this? Are there scans of the magazine available online somewhere?

From the screenshot in the ad, this clearly isn't the 7800 version:

It most closely resembles the C-64 version, only the skier is red instead of gray. Perhaps this was take from an early prototype C-64 version?
