Why is Quest for Quintana Roo listed as a proto? I have a commercial disk of it that I got in a disk file full of games recently.

I booted it and thought it was kind of like the C64 version of Aztec Challenge so came here to see the info on it. I was surprised to see it listed as a proto. It clearly isn't.

This is a HUGE surprise! Believe me, if the game is authentic, it's clearly the rarest in your collection. R10 for sure and this could mean Campaign '84 exists as well!

Could you check if the game is copy-protected?

Are Trench, Tricky and Jeopardy on original disks? If so, could you take pictures?

I'll check on all of the above.
Most of the discs were commercial, but 3 of them were pirate disks loaded with games, and they said "happy only" on them, which I take to mean that they are double density. I suspect the Trench and Tricky are on one of those 3 disks. BTW - can I read those with my XF551?

Jeopardy is absolutely an original. I'll photograph it.

I'm sorry I have been unable to get you good scans of my rares, I have a camera, but really need to invest in a scanner.

I'm 99.9% sure Jeopardy is based on the game show of the same name (the font on the disk was the same)
I did not bother to even boot this game (did not occour to me that it might be rare) so there is a chance that it's not an Atari disk...
I'll confirm tonight.

Jeopardy! turned out to be a C64 game mixed in with the Atari disks.
Trench , Tricky, and all the other "T" games from the list were from a pirate disk.

Is Quest for Quintana Roo copy-protected? If not, could you make a copy? Is there an additional loading screen that doesn't appear in the cracked version?

I hade a chance to work with this game some more over the weekend.
It does not appear to be copy-protected. I copied it with DOS XL.

As near as I can tell, the game is identical to what's here on the site. The screens look exactly the same. There are no extra loading screens. Just the title and then the thing to input a code to skip levels. (I did not try inputting the codes listed here to see if they were the same.)

BTW - This game is really poor!

There is a boxed copy of this on eBay today. So apparently it isn't a legitimate R10 as we suspected. Can we change the rarity to 9?

I thought R10 was for games in production that were basically like prototypes but are later determined to be released under really odd circumstances? For example, Ultima Mt. Drash for the VIC-20 where it was said not to have been released but later it was revealed that a limited number escaped from being recycled.

I thought R9 is reserved for games that are so rare that they basically never turn up in the wild, but they are thought to have been publicly available for purchase.
For example, Space Shuttle Module One has been offered on eBay maybe twice ever and is likely to have been available in a few early shops or via direct order from the publisher. Quest for Quintana Roo would seem to be in this bucket.

Sorry to harp on this, I just want to make sure I understand the R-levels.
