HI Gang,
New guy here, though I have loved ataris since I had a 2600, then 400, then 800xl, with dual floppies, tape drive, colour (tape) printer, and so forth.
I used it last in college, then reluctantly sold it for a PC.
Oh well right?
In any case, I used to play a game on it, from a small game company I seem to recall (but my memory is hazy, I was in college in 1985) that took place inside a cave. It was a side scroller, you were a classically shaped UFO (again, IIRC) and it was mostly in B/W (or very minimal colours) and you shot at other ufo/enemy ships in the caves. You scrolled left to right, and I think (again, IIRC) there were 30 caves you went through, entering from the left, exiting to the right. The last cave was a dead end with the "boss" enemy. Once completed, the game was over. One of the unique things I recalled is you could tunnel through the rock, all while taking damage (but you could do it if you needed to make a fast escape)
I've been through your database of games with the name "cave" in it, and nothing seemed to be it (it's not Vanguard, or Caverns of Mars)
Any ideas?

Wow, that's really close, but that's not the one (although I never knew this existed)
Anything else like that out there?

Gauntlet / Gauntletak, maybe?
Check out A8CAS, a tool to archive Atari tapes

Ding Ding Ding Ding!
We have a winner!
And you have a great memory!
Speaking of memory, it's amazing to me how my mind morphed the game into better graphics than it really had.
Nonetheless, thanks for helping me sleep now!
